What is EPIC?
The Empowering Potential in Character: Guide to Building Positive Character program is a character education initiative that aims to support students' social-emotional learning and sportsmanship along with developing good citizenship skills. The program is designed to be flexible and adaptable to different age groups and teaching styles, making it accessible to a wide range of educators. It includes various activities and strategies, such as character development lessons, service projects, role-modeling, peer-to-peer mentoring, reflection and self-assessment, and family involvement. By implementing these components, the EPIC program helps students develop essential life skills like responsibility, empathy, respect, self-awareness, problem-solving, and leadership.
The program is designed to be used in schools and other educational settings and provides a comprehensive framework for teaching character education. It is based on the idea that good citizenship is essential for creating a positive and respectful community and that students should be taught the skills and values necessary to become responsible citizens.
These skills can improve academic performance, relationships, confidence, community engagement, and personal growth. Ultimately, the EPIC program has the potential to shape students into responsible, compassionate, and successful individuals who can make a positive impact in the world
